Problem

Ethanol is a renewable fuel made from various plant materials such as grains, tubers, and lignocellulosic residues collectively known as “biomass.” More than 97% of U.S. gasoline contains ethanol, typically E10 (10% Ethanol, 90% Gasoline), to oxygenate the fuel and reduce air pollution.

There are several steps involved in making ethanol available as a vehicle fuel:

In the process of slurry formation, apart from process water, certain recycle streams are also added to save freshwater usage, such as thin slops, process condensate, etc. The quality of the feedstock and these process streams bring along various types of microbial load in the process which leads to production of various volatile acids and organic acids which are inhibitory to yeast. Further, these contaminating bacteria thrive on the sugars released in the process. The overall effect is a loss of ethanol yield and the requirement for extra energy input to purify the final product during distillation.

PLUTO-ZYME ENHANCE© is a heat-stable, liquid alpha-amylase enzyme. It is produced by controlled fermentation of a non-GMO strain of Bacillus licheniformis. It is an endoamylase that randomly hydrolyzes alpha1, 4-glycosidic bonds in gelatinized starch. The prolonged action of the enzyme rapidly reduces the viscosity of gelatinized starch and produces large amounts of lower molecular weight dextrins.

PLUTO-ZYME ENHANCE© is used in the liquefaction of steam jet-cooked starch. It increases wort yield and grain adjunct cooking capacity. It is produced by fermentation of non-GMO organisms and all natural non-synthetic ingredients.

PLUTO-ZYME BRAVO© is an amyloglucosidase derived from fungus spp. Amyloglucosidase is an exoamylase that catalyzes the release of successive glucose units from the non-reducing end of liquefied starch by hydrolyzing both the linear (1, 4-alpha-D) and branched (1, 6-alpha-D) glycosidic linkages.

PLUTO-ZYME BRAVO© is used in the saccharification of liquefied starch during SSF process in the fermenters. It has side activity of pullulanase which leads to complete hydrolysis of 1,6 side chains.
