Bio-Diesel Production

Problem

In order to reduce dependence on finite fossil fuel reserves and decrease environmental pollution caused by petroleum diesel production, renewable energy sources such as biodiesel have been sought.  However, traditional methods of biodiesel refinery utilize significant amounts of energy for thermal or catalytic cracking and create chemical and wastewater discharge as a consequence of water washing processes.  This method also creates unwanted byproducts that require complex downstream processing for glycerol separation.

Solution

ESTER-ZYME LIPID© is a blend of selected enzymes for the esterification of edible and non–edible oils to produce biodiesel in the presence of a suitable solvent system. These enzymes are specific in activity and designed to work upon a wide range of fatty acids derived from various oil sources. ESTER-ZYME LIPID© is compatible with a wide range of temperatures and pH levels to suit various solvent systems at ambient pressure without the requirement for extreme conditions.
